Did you receive an extension to file your 2023 tax return due to a disaster?

If you or your business were located in a FEMA designated disaster-area from late spring through the end of 2024, you were eligible for an extension to file your 2023 tax return.

The IRS recently sent out a due date reminder for taxpayers impacted by disaster-areas and received an extension for filing their 2023 return.

Your 2023 return must be filed by February 3, 2025 if you were located in:

    • The states of Louisiana or Vermont
    • Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands
    • Disaster-areas in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington

Your 2023 return must be filed by May 1. 2025 if you were located in:

    • The states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina
    • Disaster-areas in Alaska, New Mexico, Tennessee, Virginia or West Virginia.

NOTE: May 1, 2025 will also be the deadline to file 2024 returns and pay any dues for these locations.
