IRS Free File is Open

The Federal IRS Free File program has opened for 2025!

You can access this system via the IRS website. If your adjusted gross income is $89,000 or less, you can access guided software programs from IRS partners. These programs are easy to follow. Some even have options for state return filings as well!

If your adjusted gross income exceeds $89,000, you still have access to the Free File program. The IRS has posted fillable forms with instruction guides to help you with your federal returns.

To get started with either IRS Free File method, you will need a few pieces of information, such as the previous year’s return and income documentation.
