Tax Relief for West Virginia Storm Victims

Today, March 14, 2025, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced tax relief for victims of the severe storms that affected West Virginia last month.

Residents and businesses located in Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Wayne and Wyoming counties qualify for tax relief. Returns or payments originally due after February 15 have been automatically extended to November 3, 2025.

The IRS automatically applies the extended deadline to residents and businesses registered in the affected counties. Taxpayers affected by the storms but who do not have an address on file located in those counties, you should contact the IRS to request relief.
